Correspondence. Also diaries, photographs, notebooks, scrapbook, artifacts and other papers, primarily of Eli, Sybil and Richard Mott Jones. Letters and diaries of Eli and Sybil Jones discuss travel and work in the ministry, including time in Liberia (1851); Great Britain, France, Norway and Germany (1852-1855); Washington, D.C. (1864-1865); and Great Britain, France and the Middle East (1866-1870). Letters of Richard Mott Jones are chiefly written while a student at Haverford College (1863-1867), a tutor in Besborough, Ireland (1867-1869) and while traveling in Europe (1869-1870), also diaries, 1890-1917. Other correspondents include Eliza P. Gurney, Eli Grellet Jones, James Parnell Jones, Susan Taber Jones, Sybil Narcissa (Jones) Jacob and L.C. Pike.

Quaker minister Eliza Paul (Kirkbride) Gurney was born into a prominent and active family of Philadelphia Quakers. She distinguished herself as a speaker, traveling to many states, as well as Canada, Scotland, England, France, and Switzerland, to meet other Quakers and exchange views. She married British Quaker Joseph John Gurney and helped promote his reforms. A compelling speaker, she met with President Lincoln, who later corresponded with her.
